WoW! another year already gone! I guess its true what they say. Life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer you get to the end, the faster it goes!
Well lets see... what a year. We have really settled down here in Weatherford. We like it for the most part. We love our church and we continue to pray that God uses us to build His kingdom. The hard part is just obeying that calling.....I have begun to follow alot more then I used to and I can be a scary thing when you step out of your comfort zone but you also gain AMAZING peace in the process.
We found a really awesome camp site just up the road from us that we utilized quit a bit this year and plan to do so in the new year too. I know everyone is jealous of our luxurious travel trailer, but I would be too if it weren't my own! Mineral Wells State Park has been a familiar place for the Kapka's. We have made some really great memories there that I hope my kids never forget!
Jamie still works with ConocoPhillips. At the beginning of each year, he works alot of hours and is out of town alot. He really hates being aways so much but thankful he has a secure job in this economy. He has made some really good friends there. We hated it that the Gallegos moved back to the panhandle. I know Jamie misses talking to him at work everyday. And I miss my shopping buddy. Their friendship is like no other. Jamie also purchased a motorcycle this year that he loves. I can't bring myself to ride with him, but it is a great stress reliever for him.
Emily started Kindergarten this year. That change in life was so much harder then turning 30! She is doing great. Making new friends and learning so much! She loves her teacher, and I am so proud of her. I can't believe how much my life changed when she started. We are so busy all the time it feels like. Blaine really misses his big sis but also really enjoys the one on one time with mom during the day! He and I are still going to Kidz Day out at New River Fellowship. He does so good there and is learning lots of things that he wouldn't want to take the time at home to sit down and learn. I love my job and love all my kids (4-5 year olds) all 16 of them! And I have a great friend in my co-teacher Brandy. We are both scatterbrained, and crazy, but we balance each other out well.
Our 2nd annual family reunion was so much fun and we hope it just continues to grow! Of course, we took the chilie trophey again.... really I don't know how. We did get some of our good friends to judge it but really that had nothing to do with it. But seriously, all the chilie was so good, I can't believe we did win. We swam, we conversated, we had an auction, we had a horseshoe and washer tournament. Next year I think we will add Karaoke to the mix. I am pretty sure all the worlds problems were solved over that Labor Day weekend. Anyone is welcome to come and we really have a blast. Would love to hear more ideas on what all we could do.
We also had a halloween party with our neighbors the Brocks. We had such a good time. We set up an area for the kiddos and had a costume contest. Lots of fun. The Brock family is our family here. I don't know what I would do without them. I see many more parties with them in the future.
I miss all our family in Hereford still, and every time I go back it is harder to leave. I don't guess it ever will get easy leaving. Going back home definitely grounds you! Brings you back to your roots. We will have some family here in the near future. Jamie's mom and dad are retiring here from Flagstaff AZ. They have bought the house across the street. We are so glad to have them here!
Well - just wanted to share my thoughts of this year a little. Brought a smile to my face for sure. Life changes, and there has been some things happen this year that really rocked the boat, but God stretches us through those situations and you can only reflect on them and be blessed!
The Kapka's are praying everyone has a great 2009!
